Chiesa parrocchiale di Sant'Egidio stands in Bussana Vecchia, a historic district of Sanremo on Italy’s Ligurian coast. Today, the ruined church shows part of its façade, perimeter walls, apse, and domed covering. Its almost intact bell tower rises above the old village as a visible landmark.

The building began as a church dedicated to Madonna delle Grazie before its fifteenth-century rebuilding for Saint Egidio. Growth then brought an enlarged nave and two aisles, while seventeenth-century Baroque changes replaced them with six chapels and altars. Earthquakes in 1887 brought down the vault and much of the structure, leaving the village abandoned and the church unrepaired.

A gate now closes the original entrance because the remaining walls may collapse. Inside, fragments of paintings survive beside the apse and façade. Workshops and artists have returned to the surrounding streets, placing this damaged bell tower within Bussana Vecchia’s renewed life.
