Nussberg-Denkmal stands on a terrace behind Saarbrücken Castle, surrounded by the wooded slopes of Nussberg. A rectangular area opens from three sides for larger gatherings.

Five sandstone steles form the front, with a simple cross on the central stele. The memorial commemorates soldiers who fell or went missing during the First World War. After the Second World War, Saarbrücken added the names of soldiers from that conflict. Tall trees now obscure much of the terrace’s view over the city.

Nearby, Nussberger Hof recalls art historian Karl Lohmeyer and the Bergisches Baroque style. The former residence is now private, so you can see it only from outside. The Notkirche beside it began as a Swiss army barrack in 1946, with windows designed by György Lehoczky. As the church developed, that emergency structure became a protected monument.
