Hôtel Plaza Athénée stands on Avenue Montaigne in Paris’s eighth arrondissement, near the Champs-Élysées and Palais de Tokyo. Its red awnings and geranium-filled window boxes face the street.

Opened in 1913, the historic luxury hotel belongs to Dorchester Collection and carries a predominantly classical French architectural style. Art Deco appears on the seventh and eighth floors. Its first manager, Emile Armbruster, gave the hotel its name, while composers and artists soon gathered there after performances. Jules Lefebvre later added apartment hotels and two salons. La Cour Jardin joined those additions, and Le Relais served American soldiers as a cafeteria during the Liberation of Paris. Christian Dior established his couture house beside it in 1947. Later renovations brought six guest rooms, eight suites, a ballroom, two event spaces, the Dior Institut spa, and a Palace distinction. Five restaurants and Le Bar du Plaza complete the address.
