The Église Saint-Éphrem-le-Syriaque is a Syriac Catholic church in Paris’s fifth arrondissement, within the Sorbonne neighbourhood. It stands dedicated to Saint Ephrem, a fourth-century theologian and deacon known for hymns, poems, and sermons. The present building, completed in 1738 by architect Pierre Boscry, forms the third chapel on this site. Earlier chapels served the College of the Lombards and the College of the Irish.

Set back from the street, the church offers a quiet interior beside the busy Latin Quarter. Its portal echoes Bernini’s Saint-André du Quirinal. Inside, a carved wooden rood screen provides the clearest architectural detail, with ornament surviving revolutionary destruction. The restrained setting also supports classical music concerts, whose celebrated acoustics suit recitals by young musicians from the National Conservatory of Music of Paris.

Services use Syrian Arabic and French, while the prayer book includes phonetic Arabic, Syriac, and translations. Paris acquired the chapel in 1925, and it joined the Syriac Catholic Mission in France. Recognised as a historical monument since 1992, the church connects religious, architectural, and musical life.
