Église Notre-Dame-de-Lorette stands in Paris’s ninth arrondissement as a Roman Catholic church designed by Louis-Hippolyte Lebas in neoclassical style. Its exterior presents Corinthian columns and a sculpted pediment.

The church replaced a seventeenth-century chapel and reflects the artistic character of the area known as the New Athens. Its interior contrasts sharply with the austere façade.

Murals, sculptures, and polychrome decoration cover the interior, while paintings applied directly to the walls shape its visual character. The choir carries especially ornate murals, sculptures, and coffering.

Doric columns separate the collateral aisles, which lead towards side chapels with distinct murals and decorative themes. Coffered ceilings show designs associated with the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit.

Hubert-Nicolas Lamontagne created those ceilings, while Jérôme-Marie Delorme designed the distinctive Window of Assumption. Most of the church’s stained glass remains visually simple.

The church houses organs, including a grand organ completed by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll in the nineteenth century. Claude Monet and Georges Bizet were baptized at this Paris church.
