Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière stands within the Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris, a neoclassical chapel commissioned under Louis XIV for hospital worship. Its plan forms a Greek cross around a central chapel. Four chapels and four naves extend toward an octagonal dome, creating a strongly ordered interior arrangement. Bare walls and minimal decoration give the interior an austere appearance.

The hospital began in 1636, while Louis XIV commissioned Louis Le Vau to design this chapel in 1669. Le Vau died before construction could begin. Libéral Bruant then carried the project forward, completing the building with spaces that separated different groups during services. The original dedication honoured Saint-Denis within the hospital complex.

The chapel accommodates religious services, exhibitions, concerts, and other artistic events. A grand organ adds a particularly tangible historical detail. Its components span the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, while three keyboards and mechanical transmission control thirty-one stops. Exhibitions and concerts occupy this former hospital chapel.
