Basilique Notre-Dame-des-Victoires stands in Paris’s second arrondissement as a minor basilica shaped by French classical architecture. Its construction ran from 1629 to 1740, placing a substantial church within the city. Its façade, completed in 1737, follows Rome’s Church of the Gesù with pilasters, a triangular pediment, and royal symbols.

Inside, columns line the nave, while seventeenth-century carved choir stalls face a twentieth-century altar bearing religious portraits. Nineteenth-century stained glass brightens several chapels, and a pipe organ occupies the gallery above the entrance. The Discalced Augustinians, known as the Petits Pères, developed a convent here before the enlarged church received consecration. During the French Revolution, closure turned the building toward secular uses, including the national lottery and the first Paris Bourse. Church use returned in 1809, followed by a Sacred Heart dedication in 1836 and minor-basilica status in 1927.

More than 37,000 devotional plaques are displayed alongside silver and gold hearts, military decorations, and other ex voto offerings. Jean-Baptiste Lully’s cenotaph adds a musical trace, connecting this Parisian interior with Louis XIV’s court.
