Torre de Paraires stands beside Portopí, one of Palma’s main ports, as a square coastal tower built mainly from local marès sandstone. Its walls once worked with Torre de Senyals, stretching a chain across the harbour to control maritime access.

Documents record a tower here from the fourteenth century, while lower stone courses may preserve an older, possibly Roman structure. A wall staircase reaches three upper floors, each with four arrow slits, while the first floor has eight more. From around 1470, the building also served as a quarantine station where people, goods and disease-suspected fabrics remained before ships could unload. The nearby artillery battery, built in the early eighteenth century, defended the western marina until it was abandoned around 1760.

The upper level combines wooden beams, stone corbels and a pointed marès vault beneath a guarded terrace. A machicolation and crenellated parapet complete the summit, while restoration in 1965 helped preserve this former defence and health station.
