Rathaus Ochsenfurt stands in Ochsenfurt as a long, three-storey solid building with a gabled roof. Built in the second half of the fifteenth century, the former town hall has stood for more than five hundred years.

A southern pranger recalls earlier forms of public punishment, while a northwestern, tower-like extension shows later changes. Its Renaissance gable and rounded shop windows date from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, when the building grew with the town’s needs. After the administration moved to a newer town hall, the historic building became home to Stadtbibliothek Ochsenfurt, with books, newspapers, magazines, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks and games.

The protected monument belongs to the Deutsche Fachwerkstrasse and combines late-medieval construction with Renaissance details. Inside, the Nintendo DS games offer a particularly unexpected reminder that this old civic building still serves everyday community life.
