Kapuzinerkirche St. Maria stands in Ochsenfurt, where the former monastery church now serves Haus Franziskus as a Catholic chapel. Built between 1663 and 1667, it has a single hall, a recessed rectangular choir, and a small roof turret containing a bell. Saint Burkard and Saint Anthony of Padua are its patrons.

The city acquired the Capuchin monastery in 1829 and used it as a hospital for elderly residents. Most monastery buildings disappeared in 1973, while the church and cloister remained beside a new senior residence. Inside, a ceiling-high high altar holds Johann Steuerwald’s rotating tabernacle, made between 1788 and 1790, with two glass-fronted reliquaries. Oswald Onghers and his school shaped much of the artwork, including the 1666 painting of Saint Burkard beneath Mary and the Christ Child, with Würzburg’s Marienberg Fortress below.

Behind the altar, the former monastic prayer room contains four reliquary cases, an Onghers Ecce Homo, and a processional cross about four metres tall. Six Passion paintings along the walls preserve the devotional practice of the “seven falls,” each linked to a moment of Christ’s Passion and a particular sin.
