The Statue de Charles-Félix stands in Nice as a public artwork overlooking the port. The monument honours King Charles-Félix of Savoy in Nice.

Created from a drawing by Paul-Émile Barberi, the statue presents the king in sixteenth-century costume. An eagle stands at his feet as Nice’s symbol. Its chest carries the Cross of Savoy, linking the monument with the city and royal house.

Local shipowners and merchants funded the monument through public subscription. Their contribution thanked the king for confirming the privileges of the free port. The statue was erected during his reign.

Its Latin inscription marks the base, while the harbour setting connects royal history with the city’s civic landscape. The monument’s sculptor remains unidentified. Charles-Félix ruled Sardinia after Victor Emmanuel I abdicated and is the only Savoy ruler honoured by a statue in Nice. The monument also recalls his restoration of the government palace and the former castle grounds as a public promenade. Its position above the port places a royal figure beside the waters that shaped local commerce and Nice’s history.
