Place Île de Beauté is a public square beside Nice’s port, where neoclassical buildings frame the waterfront. The Church of Notre Dame du Port anchors the space at its centre. Its alternative dedication is the Church of the Immaculate Conception, a prominent landmark facing the surrounding terraces. A staircase descends from the square towards the quay, creating a direct visual link with the harbour.

Joseph Vernier designed the square in the nineteenth century, placing matching buildings symmetrically on either side of the church. Columns, porticos and clean lines give the façades their balanced neoclassical character. The port connects Nice with Corsica, while the square brings that maritime setting into everyday city life. Bars and restaurants around the edges make the area a meeting place for residents and visitors.

Since 1991, historic-monument protection has covered the church, several façades, the porticos and the staircase. From Place Garibaldi, the square leads you towards a waterfront setting shaped by symmetry, movement and social life.
