Musée des Beaux Arts occupies a former private mansion in Nice, built in 1878 for Princess Elizaveta Vasilievna Kochubey. The mansion became a museum in 1928, after serving as a private residence.

Paintings trace art from the twelfth through the twentieth century, with particular attention to artists connected with the French Riviera. Jules Chéret, Alexis Mossa, and Gustav-Adolf Mossa are central local presences. Sculptures by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, François Rude, Michel de Tarnowsky, and Auguste Rodin stand alongside paintings. Pablo Picasso appears here through ceramic works.

Temporary exhibitions, lectures, concerts, and cultural events extend the visit beyond the permanent collection. A society of friends supports restoration and enrichment. Raoul Dufy’s bright colours add a vivid note to the broader European collection.
