Auf den Planken follows the river through the historic core, where traditional stone and timber houses stand close to the water. A small bridge connects both banks beside the flowing river. The narrow street follows the valley’s natural bend, with retaining walls and passages linking the houses to the river. Small stone paths lead down to the water. Old facades, guest villas and close-set walls show the close relationship between settlement and river. The river remains visible from the street.

Below the surface, part of the local wastewater system runs through this area alongside pump lines and connections. The Rursammler once lay in the riverbed. Renewal work moved part of this system away from the river, reducing surface-water inflow and preserving a more natural riverbed. The spot Auf den Planken is wheelchair accessible.
