Museo Diocesano di Milano occupies the Chiostri di Sant'Eustorgio in Milan, within an ancient Dominican convent. The cloisters were restored after damage during the Second World War.

Blessed Ildefonso Schuster first proposed a diocesan museum in a 1931 letter devoted to sacred art. Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini later inaugurated it. The Archdiocese of Milan created the museum to protect and promote the diocese’s artistic treasures. Its galleries opened in 2001.

Twelve sections hold artworks from diocesan territory, the Quadreria Arcivescovile, and private donations. Paintings, sculptures, and liturgical furnishings fill the galleries. Works from the fourteenth to nineteenth centuries trace Lombard religious art, while temporary exhibitions extend the programme. Three seventeenth-century Flemish tapestries hang in the Corridor of Entry.
