Chiesa Santa Francesca Romana stands in Milan’s Porta Venezia district, close to the busy Corso Buenos Aires. Inside, a single nave opens onto small side chapels. Imposing lateral columns rise beside cross vaults, a dome, and the sail vault above the high altar.

Construction began in 1662 for the Order of Discalced Augustinians and reached completion in 1720. The church was consecrated in 1748, twenty-eight years after construction ended. Its nineteenth-century façade presents two architectural orders: Doric below and Corinthian above. A triangular tympanum crowns the main entrance, giving the frontage its clearest geometric accent.

The active parish keeps this historic structure connected to everyday Catholic life in Milan. Above the high altar, the sail vault joins the dome and cross vaults in one continuous interior composition.
