Chiesa di Santa Maria della Sanità is a late-Baroque or Rococo church in Milan with five chapels. It is also known as dei Crociferi. The Camillian order commissioned the church, whose members took the Crociferi name from red crosses on their robes. Giovanni Battista Quadrio created the initial design. Carlo Federico Pietrasanta shaped the façade, whose curves suggest a violoncello and whose roofline recalls a marshal’s bicorne. The original brick façade remains without marble decoration.

Inside, Ferdinando Porta’s St Joseph in Agony and Pietro Maggi’s Assumption of the Virgin provide notable painted works. Pietro Maggi’s painting is located within the choir. The church has also served Milan’s Maronite Catholic community since 2014, with Masses held in Arabic, Syriac and Italian. The church’s recorded Masses use three named languages. The brick façade, five chapels and paintings give the church a distinct architectural and artistic profile. This combination places sacred art inside Milan’s late-Baroque setting.
