Chiesa di Santa Croce stands in Milan’s Acquabella area as a Catholic church following the Ambrosian rite. Cecilio Arpesani gave it a Latin-cross plan inspired by early Roman Christian basilicas.

Construction ran from 1913 to 1917, after the Stigmatine Fathers established themselves near Via Sidoli. The monumental pronaos carries twelve granite columns, while three interior naves open beneath exposed wooden roof trusses. Byzantine-inspired facade mosaics date from 1960 and 1961, and Carlo Donati’s interior decorations include a large Via Crucis.

A small garden holds a bronze statue of Emperor Constantine, while ten entrance steps recall the Ten Commandments. Seven steps rise towards the ciborium, and three more lead to the tabernacle, symbolising faith, hope and charity.
