Chiesa dei Santi Barnaba e Paolo stands in Milan as a Catholic church and an early landmark of the Barnabite Order. Its two-tiered façade presents Corinthian columns and carved ornament in the restrained complexity of Mannerist architecture.

Galeazzo Alessi designed the present building, completed in 1567 to replace an earlier church. A single nave with a barrel vault opens onto three chapels on each side, where paintings by Giovanni Paolo Lomazzo and Aurelio Luini hang alongside Milanese Mannerist works. Camillo Procaccini’s 1625 frescoes extend through the nave and choir, while Antonio Maria Zaccaria’s relics rest beneath the altar.

A crypt added in 1893 preserves relics associated with the congregation’s saints. Above, Pacifico Inzoli’s 1896 organ adds a crafted musical presence to the church’s painted and sculpted interior.
