Caterina Robitschek Breuer’s Stolperstein lies in front of her former home in Meran, Italy, among other memorial stones for Jewish residents. The small concrete cube carries a brass plate with her name and life details.

Born in 1875, she lived in Meran’s Jewish community until SS units and local collaborators arrested her during raids on 16 September 1943. The authorities held her in the basement of the former Balilla House. The next day, trucks carried her group to Reichenau camp near Innsbruck, where she remained for about six months.

In early March 1944, Auschwitz received her and other deportees from Reichenau. She was murdered there on 7 March 1944. Thirty-three Stolpersteine were installed across Meran in May 2012, creating a decentralised memorial within the everyday cityscape.
