Monument aux morts du cimetière Trabuquet stands in the military section of Trabuquet cemetery in Menton, southern France. Its sections, Verdun, Marne, Champagne and Orient, hold graves for soldiers of the First World War. Menton converted hotels and palaces into military hospitals, receiving wounded and ill troops far from the front. Patients included Malagasy, Indochinese and Senegalese riflemen from colonial units.

After the First World War, Le Souvenir Français reorganised the cemetery under architect Voyer Amy’s plan. That work replaced mass burials with individual graves. Deverdun created the monument to the dead of all wars, while Andréani made Menton’s marble memorial. Joël Vergne later added a bronze statue of a Senegalese rifleman beside the memorial.

Verdun opens beneath a triumphal arch decorated with palm sculptures and lined with military graves. Pink marble columns frame the Marne memorial. Each headstone carries a palm and the Croix de Guerre, while Christian and Muslim emblems distinguish the burials.
