St. Achatius is a Catholic parish church in Bretzenheim, an area of Mainz in Germany. The church honours Saint Achatius, also known as Saint Acacius of Armenia.

François-Auguste Cheussey designed this classical hall church during the Napoleonic era in Mainz. Construction took place from 1809 to 1810. St. Achatius is recorded as the only church in the region built during that era.

The building measures thirty metres long and thirteen metres wide, with a small apse and tower. The church tower rises to fifteen metres. Mainz stood under a French prefecture while the diocese operated under a concordat regime.

The Zahlbach valley places the church near the Mainz aqueduct, an area with a long historical setting. Inside, an altar dated 1780 probably came from the conventual church of Saint Mary in Dalheim. Dalheim’s female convent was dissolved in 1802.

A seventeenth-century painting depicts the Adoration of the Child Jesus within the church. The altar and painting connect St. Achatius with religious history from different periods. The interior combines the 1780 altar with the later devotional painting.
