The Wasserturm Leipzig-Wahren is a protected architectural monument built in 1904 for municipal water infrastructure in Leipzig. The tower rises 40 metres from a 133-square-metre base. Reinforced concrete formed its structure, representing a relatively modern building technique in 1904. Bricks cover the tower top as a distinctive exterior feature. Inside, a tank made from riveted steel plates holds 570 cubic metres of water. That tank served Leipzig-Wahren and the wider city. Kommunale Wasserwerke Leipzig GmbH owned and operated the tower as the municipal waterworks company. Economic reasons later brought the tower’s water operation to an end. The structure forms part of Leipzig’s broader network of water-supply buildings from an era of urban growth and modernisation. Its preserved form combines concrete, steel, and brickwork. Monument protection recognises its architectural and historical value. The Wasserturm Leipzig-Wahren remains a visible record of Leipzig’s infrastructure and industrial history.
