Kirche Hohenheida stands on an elevated former village green in Leipzig’s Hohenheida district, surrounded by a cemetery. The church belongs to the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Saxony.

Its building history reaches back to the twelfth or thirteenth century and preserves Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque features. German monument protection recognises the church’s historical value. The west tower retains Romanesque masonry, while the nave presents a three-sided apse, segmental windows, and rusticated corners. A painted gallery surrounds three sides inside. Baroque elements include the pulpit altar, flat stuccoed ceiling, and wooden baptismal angel above the altar area. Stained-glass windows from 1913 show Moses and Jesus as the Good Shepherd. The interior also contains a crescent moon Madonna and a Christ figure from about 1500, both without their original paint. The Kreutzbach organ from 1855 was restored in 1994. Bronze bells hang in the tower’s historical frame, including Margarete, cast in 1440. The old parish house and village school stand nearby.
