Gnadenkirche stands in Leipzig-Wahren as an Evangelical-Lutheran parish church with roots in the late twelfth century. A chapel already stood on the Opferberg hill around 1000. The hall church has a recessed, three-sided choir, a west tower, and Romanesque fieldstones in its foundations. A renovation between 1990 and 1993 preserved much medieval substance.

Inside, twelve fifteenth-century Apostle figures occupy two shrines on the choir’s southern side. They once belonged to the wings of a 1497 altar. A Romanesque baptismal font, gravestones, and Jugendstil details add further layers to the interior. The north side carries a Mannerist Renaissance gable.

Above the sacristy, a seventeenth-century upper floor became the manor’s box when the organ arrived in 1699. The present organ dates from the year 1929. Jehmlich built it in Dresden, and the instrument received work in 1958 and between 2000 and 2002. New bronze bells were installed in 2012.
