Parque Doramas forms an urban refuge with dense greenery, winding paths, shaded lawns, ponds and sculptures. Tall palms and broad-leaved ficus shade its lawns. A distinctive drago tree rises among Canary plants, while exotic species add another layer of vegetation. Waterfalls feed ponds where koi carp glide beneath ducks and swans. The park takes its name from Doramas, an aboriginal leader who resisted European conquest in 1478. That name links the gardens with island history. The Pueblo Canario recreates traditional island architecture, while sculptures bring named works into the planted setting. Mariano Benlliure’s tribute honours Don Fernando de León y Castillo. Manuel Bethencourt Santana created Atis Tirma in 1981, and Carmen García made the aluminium sculpture Planeta Ella. The auditorium provides an open-air cultural stage. The park’s cultural programme includes concerts, markets and music cycles alongside community events. Families use playgrounds and cafés near the main pond. Native birds and colourful parakeets share the trees around the ponds and shaded paths. Water, art and vegetation define Parque Doramas within the city.
