Stadtpfarrkirche Mariae Himmelfahrt stands in Landsberg am Lech, with architectural traces reaching from the late Romanesque period to Rococo. Its three-aisled basilica contains chapels, altars, statues, and almost one hundred preserved grave monuments.

The church first appears in documents from 1219, while the present building followed a foundation stone laid in 1458. A baptismal font from the late Romanesque expansion remains in the central nave today. Baroque additions shaped the interior during the seventeenth century, and Rococo altars followed by the mid-eighteenth century. Restoration addressed the interior from 1979, then structural work continued between 2005 and 2009. The west gallery carries a Baroque organ case from 1688, with figures by Lorenz Luidl. Beneath it, the Veitsaltar displays figures by Lorenz Luidl and his son Johann. Jörg Pfeifer created the High Baroque high altar in 1680, while Antonio Trivas painted its scene of earthly peoples honouring Mary.

A slender northern tower rises beneath a Baroque dome from 1692. Inside, a bell frame from 1417 ranks among Bavaria’s oldest. The rebuilt organ supports choirs, concerts, and the annual Landsberger Orgelsommer, linking centuries of worship with active musical life.
