Johanniskirche stands in Landsberg am Lech, Bavaria, as an eighteenth-century Rococo church with an elegant facade and tent-like roof. Dominikus Zimmermann designed this cemetery chapel outside the town centre.

Construction took place between 1742 and 1752. Inside, an oval room rises beneath a large dome, creating Zimmermann’s distinctive play of space and light. The high altar combines pastel Rocaille decoration with figures by Johann Luidl. Its central scene shows the baptism of Christ beside a landscape recalling the Lech region, while God the Father appears among clouds above. Nikolaus Schütz shaped the delicate surrounding stucco, which almost resembles a porcelain picture.

Carl Joseph Thalhaimer’s ceiling paintings add colour to the interior. Side altars, restored ceiling scenes, and finely modelled figures bring together several regional artists and craftsmen. The building’s original cemetery role connects its Rococo artistry with remembrance and the history of Landsberg’s community.
