Seebrücke Kühlungsborn reaches 240 metres into the Baltic Sea, linking the beach with open water and wide coastal views. You can cross the walkway by wheelchair and watch gulls above the waves. From the shore, the slender structure leads towards the horizon, while wind, sea spray and changing light shape the experience.

The present pier opened on 3 October 1991, after German reunification, as the first structure of its kind completed in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Earlier wooden piers stood in the eastern and western districts, but ice destroyed them during the severe winters of 1929 and 1941. During the GDR era, shortened sections and discontinued shipping reflected fears that the piers could serve as escape routes to the West. The rebuilt structure now carries coastal traditions, including the pier festival, New Year’s swimming and winter markets.

At the far end, anglers pause above the Baltic while the town stretches behind them. On winter evenings, lights and market stalls replace the summer crowds beneath the open sky.
