Pazari i Krujës runs through central Kruja, Albania, along both sides of a cobblestone street rising towards Kruja Castle. Wooden shops line the narrow passage, with some sections sheltered overhead. The route leads directly to the castle entrance, placing workshops, museums, and historic stonework within the same setting. Nearby, a restored mosque dates from the sixteenth century.

Since the fifteenth century, during the era of Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, the market has joined trade with inherited craftsmanship. Wood shaped its walls, ceilings, and shutters. Across the centuries, copperwork, embroidery, weapon making, silverwork, carpets, and filigree have occupied these wooden shops. Artisans still work with several of those materials today.

The stalls offer Albanian handicrafts, including jewelry, wooden objects, alabaster pieces, and the felt qeleshe or plisi. The qeleshe appears at weddings and family celebrations. Five centuries of Ottoman rule preceded restoration for the five-hundredth anniversary of Skënderbeu’s birth, preserving the market’s historic character. Its narrow, partly covered passage keeps the old wooden storefronts close around you.
