The Klaus-Groth-Brunnen in Kiel is a historical monument beside the Kleiner Kiel, within the Ratsdienergarten. It honours the Low German poet Klaus Groth and presents his likeness in bronze.

Groth taught as an honorary professor at the University of Kiel and became an honorary citizen of the city. Sculptor Heinrich Mißfeldt designed this shell-limestone fountain, measuring thirteen and a half metres wide and four and a half metres high. A larger-than-life bronze statue of Groth forms its centre. Relief scenes from Groth’s literary works surround the statue, alongside the coats of arms of Kiel and Heide. The fountain links Groth’s writing with Kiel and Heide’s civic emblems.

During the Second World War, the bronze figure was dismantled for melting, but a Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg scrapyard later held it. Kiel bought the statue back at material value. The city returned it to its original location, preserving Mißfeldt’s monument and its connection with Kiel’s literary history. The site is wheelchair accessible for visitors.
