Rommel-Denkmal stands in Heidenheim an der Brenz, within the park-like Zanger Berg district of southern Germany. A solitary beech tree marks the setting. Erected in 1961, the memorial honours Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel, a prominent military figure during the Second World War.

Franklin Pühn designed the limestone stone, while landscape designer Hermann Aldinger shaped its surroundings. The arch rises two metres, measures seventy centimetres in thickness, and extends more than four metres across. Its front carries Rommel’s name and rank, while the reverse shows his life dates and a North African coast map marking Tobruk.

The site became contentious because some visitors saw the tribute as glorifying Rommel’s role in the Nazi regime. A 2020 shadow sculpture by Rainer Jooß adds a landmine victim beside the stone. That figure brings the continuing human cost of war into direct view.
