Haus Buhl stands in Heidelberg’s old town as a protected Baroque building with a compact rectangular form. Its two-storey façade presents seven window axes beneath a mansard hipped roof. Distinctive ear windows punctuate the front, while a Louis Seize portal frames the grand entrance staircase.

Built between 1703 and 1714, the house served Friedrich Gerhard von Lünenschlos, professor of mathematics and university court councillor. Johann Jakob Rischer is thought to have shaped its design. The interior arranges two staircases beside a central hallway, meeting upstairs before reaching a south-facing balcony. An older western portal survives from the timber-framed house that previously occupied the site.

Heinrich Buhl left the property to Heidelberg University, connecting its later history with students, guests, research, and cultural events. Its rooms host receptions, concerts, and theatre performances. The university restored the bel étage in 1986, preserving its late-eighteenth-century appearance. A Herrenzimmer recalls the period when Heinrich Buhl owned the house.
