Alte Kirche - St. Bartholomäus stands in Heidelberg’s Wieblingen district as a protected Baroque church from 1746. Its single-nave hall and curved, flowing façade give the building a distinctive presence beside the street. The restrained interior uses symmetry and light rather than lavish decoration.

Road widening shortened the church by one axis in 1970, changing its structure while leaving its role in Wieblingen’s streetscape intact. Bronze bells cast in Heidelberg in 1951 later moved to the freestanding campanile of the newer church, where three bells form part of Wieblingen’s ecumenical chime with the neighbouring Protestant church. Possible future uses include a columbarium, while preservation requirements continue to shape any change.

The original bell scheme allowed for six bells, but only three were installed.
