St. Prokopius stands in Hamburg as a Russian Orthodox church shaped by traditional Novgorod architecture. Its square plan ends in an eastern apse, while blue onion domes define the view. The north side includes a community house serving Hamburg’s Russian Orthodox community.

Construction ran from 1961 to 1965, creating a church dedicated to Saint Prokopius, who was born in Lübeck. He abandoned his wealth after converting to the Russian Orthodox faith and choosing poverty and humility. Inside, Baron Nikolaj Bogdanovič von Meyendorff covered the walls and ceilings with frescoes.

Restoration of the domes and frescoes preceded monument protection in 1994, preserving the building’s distinctive surfaces. Nine bells from Russia’s Yaroslavl region arrived in 1996. Wonderland’s 1968 music video used the blue domes as a striking Hamburg backdrop.
