Heilwigpark occupies about half a hectare in Hamburg’s Harvestehude district, where the Isebekkanal flows into the Alster. Heilwigstraße borders the western side, while St. Benedictsstraße marks the southern edge. Tall trees, waterfront benches and open views create a calm setting beside the city’s busy waterways.

Created around 1900 alongside the surrounding residential district, the green space recalls Heilwig von der Lippe. She founded the Herwardeshude convent, which once stood in this area. The Streekbrücke landing stage meets the Alster shore, with excursion steamers arriving during the summer months.

A public playground gives children room to play, while pedal boats and rowing boats gather on the water in summer. One plane tree stands out with a trunk circumference exceeding four metres, making it the park’s most striking natural detail.
