Finnische Seemannskirche stands in Hamburg’s Neustadt as a church for Finnish seamen, truck drivers, and nearby Finnish residents. Its dark brown brick exterior signals a functionalist design. The basilica-shaped hall uses a trapezoidal plan and rises towards a high central nave.

Its history reaches back to the 1880s, when the Swedish Seamen’s Church first supported Finnish sailors in Hamburg. A Finnish mission followed as their numbers grew. Toivo Waltari arrived in 1901 and began holding services and supporting Finnish seamen and residents by 1902. After several moves, the church acquired its own building in 1921 and consecrated it in April 1926. Pentti Ahola and Dieter Langmaack designed the 1966 structure.

The listed cultural monument also contains a café, library, shop, saunas, accommodation, and the Finnish Honorary Consulate. Wheelchair access supports visitors with different mobility needs. Finnish-language education for children and teenagers joins activities for maritime workers and a popular annual Christmas bazaar.
