Nhà thờ Cửa Bắc is a Roman Catholic church in Hanoi, where European design meets Vietnamese architectural traditions. Its green setting softens the building’s place within the city. Built in 1931 under French administration, the church followed Hanoi’s urban plan and architect Ernest Hébrard’s direction. Art Deco details share the façade with a distinctive Vietnamese roof-tile system. The design creates an eclectic landmark among Hanoi’s central churches, alongside Ham Long Church and Saint Joseph Cathedral.

The building originally carried a dedication to the Vietnamese martyrs, before receiving the title Queen of Martyrs. In 1959, it became the Church of Our Lady of Hanoi. A joint Catholic and Protestant service brought international attention in 2006, during George W. Bush’s visit to Vietnam. The church’s surrounding greenery and unusual roof remain its most memorable details.
