Versöhnungskirche stands in Germany as a modest modern church, built in 1985 for new communities. Light-filled spaces open onto a garden, creating a setting where worship, daily life, and community activities meet.

During the GDR years, young people gathered in the basement for concerts, theatre, and discussions about everyday life. In autumn 1989, the building hosted the Bürgerkomitee and Round Table, making room for civic dialogue during East Germany’s transformation. A quiet chapel joined the church after its first roof renovation in 1999.

Since 2003, pilgrims walking towards Santiago de Compostela have found a stopping place here, alongside school classes and youth groups. The bell from the village church of Schöngleina links this modern building to an older local story, while outdoor baptisms bring celebrations into the garden.
