# St. Nikolai

St. Nikolai is a village church in Germany, combining a medieval stone tower with a Baroque nave. Johann Erhard Straßburger built the present nave from 1729 to 1730. The tower belonged to an earlier church and rises beside the later structure. Older foundations beneath the nave connect the Baroque building with earlier worship on this site.

Inside, four ceiling paintings from around 1740 fill the flat vault above the nave. Johann Heinrich Ritter painted the Holy Trinity, Creation, Christ’s birth, and the descent of the Holy Spirit. The organ, built by Johann Nicolaus Langenhan in 1790, stands in the gallery and has been restored and expanded. Its sound fills the nave during services.

A wooden bell tower holds bells cast in 1921. Around the church, a cemetery wall retains original stones, while a war memorial stands near the western entrance.
