Gauklerbrunnen stands on Fürth’s marketplace, where scattered sculptural groups bring acrobats and performers into the open square. Franconian artist Harro Frey designed the fountain, which spreads across the marketplace rather than forming one isolated structure.

At its centre, a fountain gathers figures around the theme of jugglers and artists, recalling entertainers who once met here. Their poses give the square a clear connection with performance and movement. The Grüner Markt occupies a widened street that once formed old Fürth’s centre and an important trade route. Historical buildings surround it: simple half-timbered houses, sandstone façades, and baroque gables reflect the city’s eighteenth-century economic growth.

Most surviving buildings date from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, following Fürth’s destruction during the Thirty Years’ War. Michaelskirche stands among them, while the former baroque inn Zum Goldenen Schwan adds an artistically designed bracket. The sculptures place acrobats among historic façades, making movement part of the square’s everyday appearance.
