During Nazi persecution, Elfriede escaped to Palestine with her husband in 1935. Seligmann had served in the First World War. Selma was arrested in 1941, fined after her release, and deported to Theresienstadt in September 1942. She died there on 19 March 1944.

Stolpersteine were laid in September 2012 to remember Selma, Seligmann, and their family. Her grandson Yoram Knopp attended the ceremony from Israel.
