The Heinrich-Heine-Denkmal stands in Frankfurt's Friedberger Anlage, close to its original location. Georg Kolbe created this monument in 1913. Bronze figures show a young man striding forward, with a seated young woman at his feet. Jugendstil forms rise from a shell-limestone base.

Public funding made it Germany's first and only representative monument to Heinrich Heine. Kolbe's bronze relief carries Heine's profile and name. Nazi forces toppled it in 1933 and destroyed its original plaque, so the sculpture required concealment. In 1934, the Städel Museum garden sheltered it under the title Frühlingslied.

During the Second World War, basement storage kept the sculpture intact after bombing buried the museum. Restoration returned the monument to Taunusanlage on a new pedestal in 1947. Kolbe's replacement plaque was his last completed work, and September 2023 brought the monument back near its original location. Its bronze pair embodies Heine's youthful, light-hearted poetry.
