The wheelchair-accessible Goethedenkmal stands on Goetheplatz in Frankfurt am Main, where a bronze figure honours Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The sculptor Ludwig Schwanthaler created its bronze figure. Goethe leans against a laurel-wreathed tree stump, holding a wreath in one hand and a scroll in the other. Bronze reliefs cover the broad base of the monument. At 6.9 metres, the statue rises above Goetheplatz and weighs nearly seven tonnes.

Frankfurt first honoured Goethe with a public monument. A citizens' committee imagined a classical round temple on a small Main island. Goethe distanced himself from that national project. Public criticism and limited funds eventually halted the proposed temple project. Schwanthaler's statue followed Marchesi's marble work. Air raids destroyed that earlier sculpture and damaged the bronze monument. The restoration moved it to Gallusanlage. The restored figure later returned to Goetheplatz, slightly shifted and rotated 180 degrees from its original position. The figure now faces the opposite direction.
