Alfred Herger is commemorated in Frankfurt by Stolpersteine marking the Herger family’s last known residences. These small memorial stones connect the city’s streets with the lives of a Jewish family persecuted during the Holocaust.

Born in Berlin in 1913, Alfred was deported from Berlin to Riga in 1942, where he was murdered. His mother Therese was deported to Ravensbrück in 1943 and died there under unclear circumstances, while his sister Henriette endured forced labour at a Siemens camp and later survived Theresienstadt. Henriette returned in June 1945, then emigrated to the United States with her husband Hermann Wiesenberg, a Buchenwald survivor. The stones preserve the family’s presence at the places where their lives unfolded.
