La Palma is a ceramic tile panel in Spain, made by Ceramica Artistica Barcarrota S.L. Hundreds of individual pieces join to form one image, combining public art with the tradition of specialist tile workshops.

Cutting, firing and assembling bring the panel together, while its repeated units turn craft into pattern. From a distance, the composition reads as a whole; close up, seams, edges and separate tiles remain visible. Move around it and watch how each viewpoint shifts the balance between detail and image.
