The Kornhofspeicher stands in the Andreasviertel, within Erfurt’s old town, as a former granary turned parking garage. Builders raised the granary between 1465 and 1467. The city council commissioned it to store tithe grain during Erfurt’s fifteenth-century economic expansion. The site had previously served as a Jewish cemetery.

Its long, nearly rectangular structure measures 83 metres in length and up to 25 metres in width. The ground area covers approximately 1,800 square metres. Three floors support a four-storey hipped roof covered with beaver-tail tiles. Inside, an almost entirely original four-aisled wooden framework records its late medieval construction.

After years of vacancy, conversion into residential parking began following woodworm treatment in 2010. The work finished in 2014 and preserved the exterior and visible timber structure under monument protection rules. The building remains a cultural monument, with four roof levels rising above its preserved timber frame.
