The Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche stands in Vieselbach, a district of Erfurt, with medieval origins and a neo-Gothic present. Its slender tower rises prominently above the church. The tower preserves the oldest surviving part, with a twisted form and an octagonal slate-covered spire. The nave took shape in the late nineteenth century. The present church replaced a deteriorated predecessor and incorporates stones from that earlier building. Its neo-Gothic design gives the Vieselbach landmark a strong vertical profile. Inside, wooden galleries, benches, and a barrel-shaped ceiling define the historic interior. Restored east-facing stained-glass windows bring colour to the altar end of the church. The altar area retains its original colours after restoration. Restored bossage also marks the nave walls, preserving a distinctive surface detail within the nineteenth-century architecture.

One historic bell carries sacred texts from the sixteenth century. The second church bell was made in Apolda. The church houses a high-romantic organ made by the W. Sauer company and associated with Oscar Walcker. Otto Lippold donated it in memory of his fallen son. Summer concerts connect the church with Erfurt’s village-church music programme. The Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche brings medieval remains, neo-Gothic architecture, restored details, and historic instruments together in Vieselbach.
