The Anna Kapelle stands on a steep slope south of Eggenfelden’s main parish church. It has two storeys and no tower.

Inside, two separate chapel spaces form a double chapel within the brick building. The lower space was dedicated to Saint Christopher, while the upper honours Saint Anna.

Pointed-arch windows and a ribbed net vault preserve the chapel’s late Gothic character. Restoration uncovered secco wall paintings from the late Gothic and early Baroque periods.

Two painted layers cover the chapel walls. Older scenes show the Assumption and Coronation of Mary, alongside a fragment of the Holy Kinship.

The north wall presents the parable of the rich man through hunting scenes, kitchen scenes, and social commentary. Other paintings show the Last Judgment and Herod’s banquet with Herodias and Salome.

The covered Christophstiege staircase leads from the town up to the cemetery. During restoration, Joseph Michael Neustifter designed a new altar, ambo, and processional cross.

The chapel’s changing uses include a Lourdes grotto, funeral space, classroom, and storage room. Together, the building, paintings, and staircase connect Eggenfelden’s religious spaces with its artistic history.
