Haus Vionville is a residential building in Düsseldorf-Golzheim, with an architectural character shaped by the late nineteenth century. It was originally known as Haus Rocholl.

Düsseldorf architects Klein & Dörschel built the house between 1893 and 1894 for painter Theodor Rocholl. Its Neo-Renaissance design draws on romanticised rural architecture.

A round corner tower carries a bell-shaped dome and gives the building its strongest vertical feature. Bay windows, window shutters, and half-timbering add varied textures across the façade.

The natural stone base anchors the house, while its hipped roof completes the rural architectural composition. Golzheim’s village structure also influenced the design and helped the building fit its surroundings.

The name Vionville connects the house with Rocholl’s paintings and his interest in military history. His 1887 work The Death Ride of Vionville depicted the Battle of Vionville.

Haus Vionville therefore brings together domestic architecture, rural forms, and Rocholl’s artistic identity. Its materials and details offer a clear view of architectural ideas from that period.
